General Information and History

 

The Faculty of Education, located within the Fırat University Rectorate campus, was established by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 09.09.1997 and started its education life on 18.09.1998. Since our faculty did not have an independent building at the beginning, it carried out its education activities in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences building. Our faculty moved to its first building in the 2005-2006 academic year, to its second building in the 2007-2008 academic year and finally to its additional building in the 2017-2018 academic year and continues its education activities.

Our department first started its education activities in the 2006-2007 academic year as the "Primary Education Mathematics Teaching Undergraduate Program" under the name of Primary Education Department with three academic staff and 42 students and the master's program started operating in the 2008-2009 academic year. After 2016, within the scope of the restructuring of the Faculties of Education with the cooperation of YÖK-World Bank, it continues its activities as the Department of Mathematics and Science Education under the name of Mathematics Education Department and continues its education and training activities in Primary School Mathematics Teaching Undergraduate and Mathematics Education Postgraduate Programs. Within the scope of these programs, it is aimed to plan efficient and qualified teaching activities for each course and studies are carried out for this purpose. Under the roof of the Department of Mathematics Education, students continue to be accepted to undergraduate and graduate programs.
